Thursday 24th March – bike **** – Two rivers, Orwell to the Deben including lunch at Landguard – sunny and warm.

With no sign of this high shifting the mild sunny weather continues with very light winds, nice and clear at home but very hazy on the coast with poor visibility. Usual morning at home exercises in the garden, Mag pops to Lidl then potters in the garden before I make a sandwich to head out on our bikes for the fourth day running. Through Langer park pas t a beautiful tree full of catkins looking lovely with the sun shinning through them, the little stream has loads of daffodils with some cool reflections in the water. I detour to the view point to check how the beach refurbishment is going while Mag bike through the nature reserve bunny spotting! I think the beach work is complete now but a large area of the car park was cordoned off as the large digger used for the beach work was mostly under water over near the first berth, someone had a really bad day! Apparently, he had to swim ashore, must try harder next time! There was a good crowd so that meant there would be loads of pics on Facebook later! I bike to join Mag on the old wooden jetty with the sea like a mill pool, the sun was fully out but you could only just see Dovercourt across the Orwell in the haze! Enjoyed our yummy cheese and ham sandwich with lashings of salted butter, we know how to live. There was once again lots of boat action, the barge came in followed by a container ship that was meet by two tugs and lastly the trailer ferry emerged out of the gloom. We had fishermen, a kayak arrived and several walkers making the most of the great weather although not as warm as yesterday. We were there ages watching the world go by before setting off through the nature reserve reaching the busy prom with several families relaxing on the beach including a couple of paddle boarders out in only their shorts, not a brilliant idea as the breeze was a tad on the chilly side! Mag again heads up Bent Hill and home while I continue to Felixstowe Ferry, much quieter up that way and pretty as a picture. The harbour master’s boat was at the jetty advertising river trips, several campers at Bawdsey, sadly it has become very popular. A quick walk around the boat yard before taking the short route home for a shower, followed by some of Mags delicious homemade cake with a cuppa!
